Product Description ACECAD DM-L2 CAN DIGITAL RECORDACCSHAND WRITTEN NOTES W/ORDINARY PAPER
Amazon.com Product Description The SolidTek DM-L2 DigiMemo L2 8-1/2-by-11-Inch Digital Notepad is a stand-alone device that can digitally capture what you write and draw on regular paper--with no special paper or computer. The Digital Notepad remembers the strokes that you draw and when you are done, you simply plug the Notepad into your computer via USB and upload your notes. Then you will have both a digital and a paper copy. The included DigiMemo Manager software lets you easily view, edit, and organize your digital pages in Windows. The digital pages can be saved as BMP, JPG, GIF, or PNG formats. You can then easily share your digital pages with others, or highlight, annotate, and edit them. When the pad is connected to a PC, it can function as a graphics tablet, with the writing on the paper and the writing on the screen synchronized. The DigiMemo L2 has a writing area of 8 by 11 inches and has 32 MB of built-in storage, with a CompactFlash memory card slot for expansion. The pad is light and thin, and isn't uncomfortable to hold or use. The battery of the pen can last about 14 months and the pad will last about 100 hours on four AAA alkaline batteries. The unit automatically shuts down after 30 idle minutes.

DigiMemo L2 June 14, 2010 Roy A. Smith 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I returned the product as the handwriting coversion software is not included. It is extra to purchase. So what is the point in buying it if you can't get your handwriting onto the PC.
A really inferior product on so many levels June 4, 2010 Princeton, NJ (USA) I would advise a prospective buyer to stay away from this product. My experience has been the following:
1. The CD that came with it has a trojan (artemis) which my antivirus software blocked. I went to acecad's website and downloaded the software. That worked fine. This problem is not the killer.
2. The off-line capturing feature does not work properly. Most of the time my pen strokes are not captured no matter how hard or soft I press the pen. It captured some strokes but was largely useless when imported into the computer.
3. After a few minutes of use the pad just froze. It would show 999 and not respond to anything. I even removed the battery and reinserted it. Nothing. Connected it to the computer again and nothing. It basically doesn't do anything.
Luckily I just got it today and will be returning it barring the slight chance that acecad will reply to my email and resolve all issues.
Like I said, stay away. It's not worth it.
Some parts are OK, Some parts not May 6, 2010 F. Strathmann (Philadelphia, Pa) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you purchased this product for off-line use to carry around and create digital copies of your handwritten notes, you have a winner. It works great for this purpose.
If you purchased this product to use real-time displaying what you are writing and perhaps broadcasting it using WebEX or a similar system, prepare to be disappointed!
1. You have to rotate the tablet 90 degrees and write on it in landscape mode to get it to work on-line.
2. The on-line operation only uses a portion of the paper, and worst yet, it varies with the resolution of the screen! If you plug in a projector to your laptop to display it, normally the resolution shifts to the projector resolution. This changes the writing area of the pad!
While it's somewhat usable on-line, clearly all the effort was put into the off-line operation, which works great.

The DigiMemo works very well. After a short "learning" session your handwritten notes are transposed to digital documents and saved on the computer.
Excellent Technical Support May 5, 2010 Tracy Holliday (Albuquerque, NM USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In three days and 4 emails a problem with DigiMemo Manager was solved - they created and emailed me a special build of the exe file to replace the version that came with my DigiMemo tablet and pen. Problem solved! What was the problem - above the default line size the type would spike when I used erase. It doesn't do that any more. I am very pleased with how fast they responded - no fuss, no muss. I love my DigiMemo Tablet and the software and the technical support.
